| Every time I sign into my old AOL e-mail account there's a picture on the sign-in screen that looks like this:
Something about this picture kind of creeps me out. And I have no idea what it has to do with checking e-mail.

| Some random thoughts for the week:
- The quote from two weekends ago: We are driving back to Chicago, in slow traffic. The car is acting like it's going to overheat and we're a little concerned. We exit the highway and meander through northwest Indiana, trying to figure out how to get home and not get stuck with a non-functioning car. The time hits 4:00 eastern; I get sappy and say, awww, a year ago our wedding was starting. Ryan's answer: "I hate to say it, but I think I'm more nervous now than I was then."
- As we drove to church on Sunday morning, we saw some people putting flyers on the windshields of cars, advertising a furniture sale. The guys were distriibuting the flyers to cars that were in a church parking lot. That's real classy marketing right there. What the heck?
- On Sunday we decided to stop by an open house at a place that was for sale for $250,000...which is "cheap" out here. Turns out that you can't get much for that kind of money...I don't think our furniture would have fit in the place. Looks like we will be renters for a while. Oh well.
- I would really like to go back to Hawaii.
- The evenings were gorgeous earlier this week. It felt like volleyball season weather.
- Speaking of volleyball, next week begins my coaching stint. Should be interesting! And fun, I hope.
- Still on the volleyball note, we won our first playoff game. The other team was pretty tipsy. No wonder half of their serves ended up in the net. Funny stuff.
- Work is insane right now...but I kind of like it that way.
- A couple of different worlds in my life of have kind of collided recently...weird.
- St. Joseph has a beautiful beach...we found that out a couple of weekends ago.
- We are heading to GR this weekend. That makes me very happy.

| Happy anniversary to us.

(July 30, 2005)
The year has flown by...I can't believe it's been a year already!

| Been a while again. What have I done in the last month or so? Let's see. Went to San Antonio for work. Went to Nebraska for a wedding. Went to Colorado for a wedding and vacation...
...and now I'm back home for a bit.
San Antonio was good. Nebraska was a blast, minus the drive.
And Colorado was fabulous, as always. I went to a beautiful wedding (congrats Derek and Melody!) and saw awesome relatives. I got to play with the sweetest two-month-old boy ever. I climbed mountains, drove the Peak to Peak highway and Trail Ridge Road, biked in Boulder, ate ice cream every day, played mini golf and real golf, went to a Rockies game, took ridiculous amounts of pictures (maybe I will post some later), didn't think at all about work or regular life...it was an escape in every sense of the word. At the end of the trip I felt like I could have spent the entire summer out there with Ryan and never gotten sick of it. (Although it would have been nice to have him be 25 so I wouldn't have to do ALL of the rental car driving!) Next to the gorgeous scenery we were surrounded by the whole time we were there, Chicago seems...well, flat. It's a little hard to be back, but I guess there's always a little bit of post-vacation letdown after a big trip. There's so much to do where we were...I guess we'll have to go back again before too long.
At least another long weekend is coming soon...hopefully it will include a trip to GR to see Common Shiner!
Finally, congrats to K and M on the birth of their beautiful baby boy!
